Medpace Campus Coming to Life
|
|
|
|
|
The next phase of green development and construction is under way on the corporate office and clinical research campus of Medpace, Inc. Al. Neyer, Inc. has begun work on 200,000 square feet of new office, lab and clinical space at the 30-acre site in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Madisonville.
The site was formerly occupied by NuTone, which manufactured residential products ─ including door chimes ─ there until 2007. In October 2010, Al. Neyer completed the first building for the campus ─ a 132,000 square foot global headquarters on four floors that achieved LEED certification. More than 600 Medpace employees are based there.
The project’s design lead is Rob Thrun, A.I.A., Al. Neyer vice president of Architecture and president of Neyer Architects. “Medpace desires cost effective, functional buildings that will have sustained value,” according to Thrun. “But they also are emphatic that the design of the buildings and campus has an uncompromised aesthetic appropriate to a global leader in clinical research.”

Cincinnati City Council Votes Lift U Square @ The Loop

Before taking its annual summer break, Cincinnati City Council passed several ordinances for University Square @ The Loop, the development of vacant land between McMillan and Calhoun streets near University of Cincinnati campus. With Councilmember Bortz excused from voting, Council passed ordinances that provide for a development agreement with USquare LLC; for issuance of up to $21 million in Economic Development Bonds to finance site improvements; and for the appropriation of funds for the redevelopment into U Square, with a declaration of the project to be for a public purpose. U Square is a mixed-use development with significant residential, retail, office and structured parking components. A hotel is also planned.
“We thank Council for its endorsement of this significant project, its vote of confidence in the U Square team, and the projected benefits U Square will bring to Clifton Heights,” according to James Neyer, executive vice president, real estate development, and a member of the project development team.
“The City of Cincinnati recognizes and appreciates the significant impact to our local economy that will be generated by U Square @ The Loop," according to Patrick Ewing, interim economic development director, city of Cincinnati. "We have been an active partner with the Clifton Heights community, the University of Cincinnati and the development partners since the inception of the project. Clifton Heights Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation, Towne Properties and Al. Neyer, Inc. have worked diligently and closely with the City to present a development of the highest quality standards for urban mixed use." Neyer said the first retail tenants, office user and a hotel brand will be announced soon. Groundbreaking is set for Fall 2011.

"Ipsos Day" in Cincinnati recognized the survey-based market research company’s new Cincinnati location at Al. Neyer’s One Columbia Square office building. An employee celebration featured Ipsos workers from the company’s downtown office applauding a formal proclamation by Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory, who read it and presented it to Ipsos President of the Americas James Smith. Afterward, many stayed to enjoy the catered lunch in the new space on floors 3 and 4. Mayor Mallory subsequently mentioned the Ipsos lease in his State of the City speech, as a boon to the City’s economic development efforts.

Laura Brunner says her experience in Leadership Cincinnati gave her the structure and impetus to focus on social justice that has led to her present-day work as a champion for economic inclusion in construction projects and real estate ownership of projects such as the Offices at Vernon Manor in Avondale. Brunner was honored with the Merlin Pope Jr. Diversity Leadership Award May 4 at the Cincinnati Human Relations Commission Annual Awards Dinner. As executive vice president of Al. Neyer, Brunner is a member of the development team of the Vernon Manor redevelopment into office space for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Through Brunner's efforts to encourage minority ownership of significant commercial real estate assets, The Offices at Vernon Manor is majority owned by Real Estate Enterprises for African American Leaders (REEAAL), LLC. The Merlin G.
Pope Jr. Diversity Leadership Award was created in 2003 to recognize an individual executive who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and leadership to diversity and inclusion within their organization and/or the community. Former Procter & Gamble Chairman and CEO John Pepper was its first recipient.

Give Back Cincinnati’s 2011 Paint the Town event was in danger of a rain delay, after more than 4 inches fell the night before the June event. But, conditions cleared, and Al. Neyer again fielded a team of house painters for this charity event, now in its 10th year. Al. Neyer house painters had some help from a few Procter & Gamble employees, who helped finish up the Dayton, Kentucky, home in record time, bringing the total to 40 houses painted in the Dayton and Bellevue, Ky., communities for the day.
